Clean your refrigerator regularly

Before you think about organising your refrigerator, you must make sure that it is clean. To clean the inside of your refrigerator, you may use a baking soda solution before rinsing it with warm water and a well-wrung cloth or a warm sponge. Then you will have to wipe the inside of your appliance.

Make sure you also regularly clean the seals, otherwise they might become prematurely worn out. You can do so with mild detergent and warm water. When the seals are clean, remember to dry them.

Note: before cleaning your appliance, unplug it to avoid electric shocks!

Food conditioning

The organisation of your refrigerator begins with a specific attention to the conditioning of your food.

First, it is recommended to remove all unnecessary cardboard or plastic wrapping. For instance, you can throw away the cardboard package wrapping your yoghurts. It helps reduce the electric consumption of your appliance.

Simultaneously, some products must be kept tightly closed. Meat, raw fish and raw milk cheese must be stored this way. To do so, you can wrap them in cling film or use a storage box.

Respect the various areas

To organise your refrigerator, you need to identify the various areas it contains. For your information, the number and location of these areas can vary from one refrigerator to another.

However, most of the time you should have a vegetable compartment meant to store fruits and vegetables, obviously. Then you have storage space in the door. You can keep your milk, drinks, eggs and butter there. For the rest of the products, you can store them in the central part of the appliance.

Organise your products

Finally, for the perfect organisation, you should store your products in a certain order. Ideally, look at the use-by date to arrange your various food products. Place the closest use-by dates in front so that you do not forget them in the back of your refrigerator.
